How To Practice More Positivity

Has anyone ever asked you if you are a glass half full or glass half empty kind of person?

Seeing the world or treating situations through a positive lens is not something we are innately born with. Certain life situations or people may help grow us towards or away from positivity, but all in all, it is something we need to work towards.

Having the ability to view our surroundings with a more positive mindset is challenging, but rewarding.

So what is the magic trick?

I am in no way an expert, but I will try my best in sharing what has helped me remain positive even in challenging times.

The keyword here is perspective. You MUST change your perspective. Let me say it again… you MUST change your perspective.

You can choose to see the worst of situations or the best of situations, but no one else can decide that for you, YOU are the one in charge!

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a room with people who have piss poor attitudes? It’s as if even though you might feel differently about the situation, you can’t help but be swept away by their overall mood and therefore your attitude is compromised.

You might ask yourself, “Shouldn’t their perspective not impact me if I don’t necessarily agree”?

Well, perspective is something that shifts multiple times throughout our day depending on who you are with or what you are doing. Regardless of whether or not you lean more towards the side of optimism, negative Nancy always finds a way to creep in.

You don’t need to have a smile plastered on your face 24/7 ( and please don’t because that would just be really scary) but you need to ask yourself these simple questions when looking for the good in situations:

 A. What are you in control of? What is out of your control?

B. How might you be able to flip the situation and find that blessing in disguise?

C. Is this something small and worth mulling over, or can I let it go?

I believe we often don’t look at things as a big picture, and what I mean by that is if we begin to break things down into every little detail and it doesn’t add up or it’s not what we want to hear, well then, of course, you will find the cracks or faults. If you view things on a larger scale, your worries will appear to be less than you made them out to be.

Sometimes these situations can teach us, so rather than viewing it as a speedbump, think of it as a lesson and congratulate yourself when you begin to see that simple shift of perspective.

There are meanings and reasons for what happens for you, but you MUST ask yourself the question of how it will serve you.

If you consistently search for good I sincerely believe you will find more happiness in your life.

I keep coming back to this idea of what it would be like if we didn’t have technology during quarantine, and I think in someways it wouldn’t be a bad thing! Whether you are a mindless social media scroller or an adamant news watcher, it does no good consuming yourself 24/7 with news you know will have a negative impact on your mood. But guess what… WE STILL DO IT ANYWAY. Here’s a thought for you… If you are in a friend group and feel put down or maybe have a gut feeling you don’t belong, I would hope you make the conscious decision to walk away. The same scenario goes for the media we consume. Fill yourself with good. Listen to the music or podcast you know will light you up. Call the friend you know will make you laugh. Read the book you know you won’t be able to put down. Make the effort to fill yourself with good. The more good you consume, the less room you have for negativity. Stay informed, but give yourself a break from unnecessary anxiety and stress. You have the power to change the way you see what’s happening around you and that begins with what you choose to consume your mind with. It’s time to break up with unnecessary worry and fill up with instant happiness! . . . #smilewithjenna #inspiredtosmile #choosegood #filluponthegoodstuff #personaldevelopment #selfgrowth #rachelhollis #next90challenge #lifecoach #futurelifecoach #author #futureauthor #happyart #quoteoftheday #personalblog #happinessseeker
